Palace of the Popes

Avignon is where the Palace of the Popes resides. In Gothic style it is one of the largest in Europe. The vatican was here through 1309-1403. We stopped here for a day trip on our way to Lyon. We brought a picnic and ejoyed the park above the Palace.
